Bookshelf Placement for Maximum Effect

To maximize enchanting table power, surround it with bookshelves. Each bookshelf within 15 blocks (horizontally or vertically) increases the maximum enchantment level by 1, up to level 30.

Optimal layout:

• Place 15 bookshelves in a 3×3 square around the table (leaving the center for the table)
• Stack additional bookshelves above or below for a compact tower
• Ensure no blocks obstruct the line of sight between table and shelves

Build Bookshelves Efficiently

Since Paper Books Mod makes bookshelves paper-only, you can now:

• Farm sugarcane continuously without mob hunting
• Craft paper in bulk
• Mass-produce bookshelves quickly
• Expand your enchanting room without resource bottlenecks

Test Your Setup

Place an item in the enchanting table. If you see level 30 enchantments available, your bookshelf count and placement are correct. If levels cap lower, add more bookshelves or reposition existing ones to improve line of sight.
