Craft Your First Paper Book

Gather Paper

Paper Books Mod replaces the vanilla book recipe entirely. Instead of hunting for leather, you only need paper. Collect paper by:

• Harvesting sugarcane near water and crafting it into paper at a crafting table
• Breaking bookshelves or lecterns from villages or structures (they drop paper)
• Looting shipwrecks, libraries, or strongholds for paper drops

Craft the Book

Once you have 9 paper, place them in your crafting table in a 3×3 square pattern—filling every slot. This produces one book.

Unlike the vanilla recipe (which requires leather, string, and paper), this mod streamlines the process to paper alone. This makes books far more accessible early game, especially if you've already set up a sugarcane farm.

Next Steps

Use your paper books to:

• Combine with leather to make enchanted books (vanilla recipe unchanged)
• Stack books into bookshelves for decoration or enchanting room setups
• Write on books using ink and quill for custom text
