Build a Library Without Leather Farming

Why Paper Books Help

Vanilla bookshelves require leather, forcing you to hunt mobs or find cows. Paper Books Mod eliminates this bottleneck—bookshelves now only need paper, which you can farm passively with sugarcane.

Set Up Sugarcane Production

• Plant sugarcane in rows along water blocks

• Harvest regularly and convert to paper via crafting table
• Optionally automate with hoppers, pistons, and observers for hands-off farming

Craft Bookshelves

Combine 6 paper books with 3 wooden planks (any type) in the standard bookshelf recipe. Repeat as many times as needed—no leather required.

Design Your Library

• Arrange bookshelves in decorative patterns
• Surround an enchanting table with bookshelves to boost enchantment levels (up to 15 blocks away)
• Add lecterns for a study room aesthetic
• Use different wood types for visual variety

With paper farming, you can build massive libraries without waiting for mob drops or maintaining cow farms.
