Begin by crafting the Essentials guide book using vanilla materials—it contains all starter recipes and ritual instructions. Next, craft colored chalk and draw diagrams on flat surfaces to create ritual circles that direct magical energy.

Place spirit shrines near your diagrams to extract power from the 37 spirit types hidden in surrounding blocks and items. Use contracts and writs to bind hostile or passive mobs, turning them into defenders and resource gatherers.

Once ready, perform the three major one-time rituals: the Implement Ceremony (bond with gear for permanent bonuses), Familiar Binding (choose a lifelong creature companion), and Demesne Claim (establish a territory that boosts your magic). These choices are permanent and define your playstyle. Later, explore the Ruins dimension's nine emotion-based biomes to gather unique resources and face eight custom hostile mobs.
