Adjust Blur Strength to Find Your Challenge Level
Access the Shader Settings
Out of Focus Shaders includes multiple blur intensity levels to suit different playstyles. Start by opening your shader options through the Video Settings menu in Minecraft.
Choose Your Blur Level
The mod provides a range from subtle blur (barely noticeable fuzziness) to extreme blur (near-total blindness). Select a level that matches your desired difficulty:
- Light blur keeps most details visible but adds a vision test element
- Medium blur makes distant objects hard to identify and requires closer inspection
- Heavy blur turns navigation and mining into a genuine challenge
- Extreme blur creates maximum difficulty for hardcore players
Test and Adjust
Start with a medium setting in a safe area like your base. Spend a few minutes mining or building to see how the blur affects your gameplay. If you can't see enough to enjoy the game, reduce the blur. If it feels too easy, increase it. You can change the setting at any time without restarting your world.
Many players find that blur strength affects different activities differently—mining might feel harder than building, so adjust based on what you're doing.
