Out of Focus Shaders FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on the blur effect?
Open the Shader Settings menu (usually accessed through your video settings or shader options screen) and enable Out of Focus Shaders. The blur will apply immediately to your entire screen.
How do I make the blur stronger or weaker?
Look for the blur strength slider in the Shader Settings menu and adjust it to your preferred level. Moving it higher increases the blur intensity, while lower values create a more subtle effect.
Can I play survival mode with this shader on?
Yes, the shader works in all game modes including survival. Many players use it as a fun challenge to test their navigation and building skills while dealing with reduced visibility.
Will this shader make my game lag?
Out of Focus Shaders is optimized to run smoothly even on low-end systems. You should not experience significant frame rate drops, though performance depends on your hardware and other mods installed.
Does the blur affect my ability to see the HUD or hotbar?
The blur applies to the entire screen including UI elements, making it part of the challenge. If you want to disable the shader temporarily, you can toggle it off in the Shader Settings.
Can I use this shader with other shader packs?
Out of Focus Shaders is designed to work as a standalone effect and may conflict with other shader packs. You should only have one shader pack active at a time for best results.
Does this work with resource packs?
Yes, Out of Focus Shaders applies on top of your resource pack and does not interfere with texture or visual changes from resource packs.
What happens if I set the blur to maximum?
At maximum blur strength, your screen becomes nearly or completely black, making gameplay extremely difficult. This is intentional for the extreme challenge setting.
Can I adjust the blur strength while playing?
Yes, you can open the Shader Settings menu during gameplay and change the blur strength in real time without restarting the game.
Does this shader change how the game looks besides the blur?
No, Out of Focus Shaders only adds the blur effect and keeps all standard vanilla visuals intact underneath the lens effect.
