Convert Raw Logs into Stairs and Fences Without a Crafting Table
Direct Log Processing
The Stonecutter lets you skip the intermediate step of turning logs into planks. Instead of crafting logs → planks → stairs, you can go straight from raw logs to finished stairs in one machine.
Steps
1. Place a Stonecutter in your world
2. Open the Stonecutter interface and insert raw wood logs into the input slot
3. The output menu will show multiple options including stairs, slabs, fences, doors, and shelves
4. Click the output you want—for example, select "Oak Stairs" to convert your oak logs directly into stairs
5. The Stonecutter will process the logs and output the finished product
Wood Type Compatibility
This works with all wood types in the game: Oak, Spruce, Birch, Jungle, Acacia, Dark Oak, Mangrove, Cherry, Pale Oak, and Bamboo. Each wood type produces its corresponding stair or fence variant, so you can process any log type without needing separate recipes.
This is especially useful for large building projects where you need many stairs or fences—you'll save significant inventory space and crafting time by processing logs directly at the Stonecutter.
