Mine and Process Meteoric Rocks Safely
Cool Down Hot Meteoric Rocks
Fresh impact craters contain meteoric rock blocks in three heat stages: hot, warm, and cool. You cannot mine hot blocks efficiently. Throw snowballs at hot meteoric rocks to cool them down progressively. Each snowball reduces the temperature stage.
Lock Temperature When Ready
Once a meteoric rock reaches your desired temperature, use echo shards on it to lock the temperature in place. This prevents accidental reheating and ensures stable mining conditions.
Extract Resources
Mine cooled meteoric rocks with a pickaxe to collect meteoric chunks. These chunks can be:
- Crafted into meteoric alloy for advanced lasers and tools
- Smelted into raw iron for standard iron processing
Avoid Reheating
Do not use flint and steel on meteoric rocks you plan to mine—this heats them back up and wastes your cooling effort. Reserve flint and steel only if you need to reheat rocks for specific crafting purposes.
