OffShades Shaders FAQ

Open Options > Video Settings > Shaders, then locate and select OffShades Shaders from your shader pack list. Click Apply and the shaders will load on your next world load.

Shadow flickering often happens when shadow distance is set too high for your system. Try lowering shadow distance in the shader settings, and make sure your render distance isn't extreme relative to your shadow distance.

No—OffShades already blends elements from those shaders, so running multiple shader packs together will cause conflicts and visual glitches. Use only OffShades Shaders as your active shader pack.

Open the shader settings menu (usually by pressing a key in-game, often Right Shift or a custom key you set), then look for brightness, exposure, or ambient light sliders to tune the overall lighting to your preference.

Reduce shadow distance, lower render distance, disable shadow map filtering if available, or turn off advanced lighting features in the shader settings. Start with shadow distance since it has the biggest performance impact.

OffShades applies its lighting and visual effects to all dimensions, though the Nether and End will look different due to their unique lighting conditions and lack of a traditional sky.

This is usually caused by incompatible resource packs or outdated texture mods conflicting with OffShades' rendering. Try using a vanilla or well-tested resource pack, and check that your mod versions are up to date.

Shaders are client-side only, so you can use OffShades on any server—it won't affect other players or require server-side changes.

Use the shader settings to boost ambient lighting slightly, reduce shadow distance for cleaner shadows, and position yourself during golden hour (sunrise/sunset) for the best atmospheric effect. Experiment with brightness and contrast sliders to match your scene.

OffShades requires Iris Shaders (which works with Sodium) to run. It does not work with Optifine, so you'll need to use Sodium + Iris instead for shader support.
