Disguise Yourself Before Looting

The safest way to raid village chests and barrels is to remain undetected. Equip a carved pumpkin on your head before opening any containers—villagers won't recognize you as the thief, and your reputation stays intact. Alternatively, drink an invisibility potion to hide your identity completely while looting.

Timing and Strategy

If you're caught mid-theft, act fast: find the witnessing villager alone and bribe them with emeralds before they alert the rest of the village. This prevents your reputation from dropping and stops the alarm from spreading. However, the witness will refuse to trade with you for a full day after the bribe.

Avoid breaking workstations or farm crops while visible—these actions carry reputation penalties even without witnesses. If you must loot, do it at night when villagers are indoors and less likely to see you. Always have an escape route planned in case your cover is blown and multiple villagers start running toward you in alarm.
