Optimize Foliage and Lighting for Different Biomes

Understanding Biome-Specific Lighting

NeoLux applies subtle foliage lighting to trees, grass, and leaves across all biomes. This lighting interacts differently depending on biome type, time of day, and cloud cover.

Adjusting Foliage Appearance

Foliage Brightness: Increase this setting to make leaves and grass glow more noticeably in sunlight. Decrease it for a more muted, natural look. Find the balance that feels peaceful to you.

Directional Lighting: Adjust how strongly sunlight colors foliage. Warm sunlight should illuminate leaves from one direction, creating depth and dimension.

Subsurface Scattering: If available, this setting makes light pass through leaves realistically. Enable it for forests to feel more alive and organic.

Biome-Specific Tips

Dark forests benefit from increased foliage lighting to remain readable. Bright desert biomes may need reduced foliage intensity to avoid oversaturation. Swamps look most atmospheric with moderate foliage lighting that blends with shadows. Experiment in each biome type to find settings that enhance NeoLux's cinematic mood while maintaining visibility.
