NeoLux Shaders FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I enable NeoLux Shaders after installing it?
Launch Minecraft with Iris installed, go to Options > Video Settings > Shader Packs, then locate and select NeoLux Shaders from your shader pack folder. The shaders will apply immediately to your world.
Why does my game lag when I turn on NeoLux Shaders?
NeoLux uses deferred rendering which is more demanding than vanilla. Try reducing render distance, disabling volumetric clouds in shader settings, or lowering shadow quality—these changes have the biggest performance impact.
Can I use NeoLux Shaders with other mods?
Yes, NeoLux works with most mods, but mods that heavily modify rendering (like other shader packs or advanced lighting mods) will conflict. Mods that add blocks or entities generally work fine.
How do I adjust the brightness or bloom effect?
Open the shader settings menu (usually by pressing a key in-game or through Video Settings), then look for options like Bloom Strength, Exposure, or Brightness to customize the cinematic look to your preference.
Why does the water look dark or not reflective?
Water reflection quality depends on your shader settings and render distance. Check the Water Quality or Reflection settings in the shader menu, and ensure your render distance is high enough for reflections to render properly.
Can I use NeoLux Shaders in the Nether or End?
Yes, NeoLux applies to all dimensions, though the calm cinematic mood works best in the Overworld. The Nether and End will still receive the shader's lighting and bloom effects, but without the volumetric clouds.
Why do shadows look too dark or too soft?
Shadow intensity and softness are controlled in the shader settings menu. Adjust the Shadow Distance, Shadow Softness, or Shadow Intensity sliders to find a balance that matches your preferred look.
Does NeoLux Shaders work with Fabulous graphics mode?
NeoLux is designed to work with Iris, which handles shader rendering independently of Fabulous mode. You can use either setting, though performance may vary depending on your hardware.
How do I make foliage look better with NeoLux?
NeoLux includes foliage lighting by default, but you can enhance it further by adjusting subsurface scattering or foliage-specific settings in the shader menu, and by visiting biomes with denser vegetation like forests or jungles.
What should I do if the sky or clouds look washed out?
Check your Exposure and Sky Brightness settings in the shader menu, and try adjusting the Bloom Strength to reduce overexposure. You can also tweak the Cloud Density setting if volumetric clouds appear too faint or too bright.
