Nekorelay Plugin FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Do I need to port forward to use this plugin?
No. Nekorelay Plugin automatically connects your server to a public relay, so players can join without any router configuration. You don't need to open ports or change firewall settings.
How do I get the public address my friends should use?
Start your server with the plugin installed—it will generate a public address automatically and display it in the console. Share this address with your friends and they can join directly.
Can strangers join my server?
Yes, anyone with your public address can attempt to join. You should enable a whitelist in your server settings (server.properties) to allow only trusted players.
How many players can join at once?
The free public relay supports up to a certain player count simultaneously. Check the config.yml or console output for the current limit on your relay.
Why can't I see my friends' real IP addresses in the logs?
By default, the relay masks player IPs for privacy. Edit config.yml and enable the option to see real player IP addresses in your server logs.
Can I use my own relay server instead of the public one?
Yes. Edit config.yml to point to a custom relay server instead of the default public relay. This requires setting up your own relay infrastructure.
Does this plugin work on strict home networks or school networks?
Yes, Nekorelay Plugin connects outbound to the relay, so it bypasses most firewall restrictions. It works even on networks that block incoming connections.
Will my friends experience lag or delays because of the relay?
The relay adds minimal latency since it only passes Minecraft traffic. Your friends play with normal game performance as if connecting directly.
Do my friends need to install anything extra to join?
No. Your friends use a standard Minecraft client and connect to the public address you share—the plugin runs entirely on your server side.
What should I do if friends say they can't connect?
Check that your server started successfully and the public address was generated in the console. Verify your whitelist isn't blocking them, and confirm they're using the correct address. See the troubleshooting guide for more steps.
