Understand Dragon Behavior and Combat

Visual Tells Before Attack

The Dragon Blazes model includes an important visual cue: dragons open their mouths wide right before shooting fireballs. Use this to predict attacks and dodge.

1. Watch for the mouth-opening animation

2. Move perpendicular to the dragon's facing direction immediately after

3. Fireballs will travel in the direction the dragon was facing

Combat Strategy

Dragons behave like vanilla Blazes mechanically—they still:

• Spawn in groups in Nether fortresses
• Deal fire damage on contact
• Shoot fireballs in volleys
• Drop Blaze rods when defeated

The custom model is purely visual and doesn't change combat difficulty. Use the same tactics as vanilla Blazes: maintain distance, use ranged weapons, and take advantage of water or fire resistance potions. The mouth-opening animation simply makes their attack pattern more readable.
