Where to Find Topaz Ore and Harvest Crystal Blocks
Topaz Ore in Mythic Upgrades generates in underground rock formations across both standard stone and negative Y-level deepslate strata.
Natural Generation Depths and Locations
Topaz deposits appear as natural veins throughout the Overworld underground:
Topaz Ore: Generates in upper and mid-level stone layers (above Y=0), frequently exposed along cavern walls, canyon floors, and ravine cuts.
Deepslate Topaz Ore: Spawns at deeper subterranean levels (below Y=0) where dark deepslate replaces stone.
Mining Topaz requires an Iron Pickaxe or better tier tool. Breaking the block with wooden or stone pickaxes drops nothing. When using a pickaxe enchanted with Fortune III, players significantly multiply the number of raw Topaz gems obtained per ore block.
Explorers seeking high yields should target deep ravines, abandoned mineshafts, and expansive dripstone caves where exposed stone faces reveal ore clusters without extensive strip mining.
Smelting Topaz Ores
In Minecraft version 1.20.1, players who mine Topaz blocks using Silk Touch can process them through smelting:
- 1 Topaz Ore placed in a blast furnace -> 1
Topaz - 1 Deepslate Topaz Ore placed in a blast furnace -> 1 Topaz
Blast furnaces process Topaz ores in exactly 100 ticks (5 seconds), using half the time of an ordinary stone furnace. Standard furnaces can also be used, though they take 200 ticks (10 seconds) per block.
Harvesting Topaz Crystals and Shards
In addition to primary gem veins, caves in Mythic Upgrades house crystalline formations that yield Topaz Crystal Shards:
- Packing 4 Topaz Crystal Shards in a two-by-two crafting grid produces 1
Block of Topaz Crystal. - Combining 1 Cobblestone with 1
Topaz Crystal Shard yields 1 
Topaz Schist.
These decorative blocks can be shaped using a Stonecutter into polished stairs, crystal bricks, and decorative pillar variants.
Transitioning to Topaz Equipment
After harvesting raw Topaz from mining expeditions, players can advance into Topaz gear:
- Smelt raw necoium into Necoium Ingots.
- Combine 4 Topaz gems with 4 Necoium Ingots (shapeless) in a crafting table to produce 1
Topaz Ingot. - Visit a Smithing Table and combine a Mythic Upgrade Smithing Template, a Netherite weapon or armor piece, and 1 Topaz Ingot to forge high-tier Topaz equipment.
