Core Mechanics

Spellcasting System

Magic in Mystford is managed through two primary items: the Book of Spells and the Magic Wand.

  • Selection: To select a spell, the player must open the Book of Spells and left-click the star icon next to the desired spell name.
  • Casting: Once a spell is selected, it is cast by right-clicking with the Magic Wand.
  • Acquisition: New spells are learned by finding Scrolls throughout the world or by completing specific NPC tasks.

Time System

Mystford utilizes a custom time system that affects NPC behavior and world accessibility. Certain characters, such as the Gate Guard, only appear at night, while others may lock their houses or change locations based on the hour. Some quests, such as the Orange Quest, require multiplayer interaction specifically at night.

Quest Branching

Most major quests in Mystford offer at least two ways to reach the objective: 1. The Path of Violence: Typically involves crafting specialized weapons (like the Silver Sword) to defeat bosses in direct combat. 2. The Path of Diplomacy: Involves complex trading chains, shape-shifting, or using specific spells to obtain quest items without bloodshed.
