MLC Better Gear Resource Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Why do my tools look flat even after installing the pack?
Make sure you've selected MLC Better Gear as your active resource pack in your resource pack menu. The pack needs to be above the Default pack in your load order to override vanilla textures.
How do I see what enchantments are on my gear?
The pack paints enchantment effects directly onto your items—you'll see glowing patterns, colored auras, or magical effects on your sword, pickaxe, or bow when you hold them. The visual changes depend on which enchantment is applied.
Can I use this with Hold My Items?
Yes, this pack works well with Hold My Items and will show the detailed 3D models in the improved hand view that mod provides. Both mods enhance how your gear looks while you're holding it.
My items look weird or off-center in my hand. How do I fix this?
If you have Respackopts installed, you can adjust the item position and screen space offsets through that mod's settings to fine-tune how your gear appears.
Do enchanted items look different from regular ones?
Yes—enchanted tools and weapons display magical visual effects painted directly onto the 3D model, so you can tell at a glance what magic your gear has without opening your inventory.
Will this pack work with my other resource packs?
Place MLC Better Gear higher in your resource pack list than other packs to ensure its detailed models load. If conflicts occur, you may need to choose between packs or use a pack merger tool.
Do the 3D models affect my game performance?
The detailed models are still resource pack textures, not actual 3D geometry, so performance impact is minimal—but very old computers might notice a slight difference compared to vanilla flat items.
Why don't my tools look 3D when I drop them on the ground?
The pack primarily enhances tools and weapons when you're holding them; dropped items may show less detail depending on your viewing angle and distance, which is normal for resource packs.
Can I adjust how much screen space my held items take up?
If you have Respackopts installed, you can modify screen space and offset settings to make held items larger, smaller, or repositioned to your preference.
Does this pack work with modded tools and weapons?
The pack only retextures vanilla Minecraft tools and weapons; modded items won't receive the 3D treatment unless the mod author has added compatibility or you create custom textures for them.
