Optimize Performance While Using SSR Shaders
Lower Reflection Quality
Screen-space reflections are computationally expensive. If you experience frame rate drops, return to shader options and reduce reflection quality, distance, or sample count. Lower settings mean fewer details in reflections but significantly improve performance.
Adjust Render Distance and Graphics Settings
Pair shader optimization with vanilla graphics tweaks. Reduce your render distance to decrease the area the shader must process. Lower cloud quality, particle effects, and entity shadows in Options > Video Settings to free up GPU resources for the shader.
Monitor Performance
Enable the F3 debug screen to watch frame rates in real time. If reflections cause stuttering, disable them temporarily while exploring, then re-enable them when you want to admire your builds. Some loaders allow per-dimension shader toggling—you can disable reflections in demanding areas and enable them elsewhere.
Balance visual quality with playability. SSR Shaders is designed to be relatively lightweight, but older hardware may need aggressive optimization.
