How to Automate Item Sorting with Logistical Transporters and Bins

Place Bins as Destinations

Set up a row of Basic Bins, each labeled for one item type. Bins hold large stacks and accept input from any side. Place an Advanced Bin where you need even more capacity per item.

Route Items with Transporters

Run Basic Logistical Transporter from your machine outputs to the bin row. Use a Configurator on each transporter to set the side that pulls and the side that pushes. Transporters move items automatically once configured and do not need power for basic transfer.

Control What Goes Where

Use a Configurator to set each transporter's color tag, then match the tag on the destination bin. Items pulled from a tagged source only travel to bins sharing that tag. This lets one trunk line feed many bins without mixing contents. For higher throughput, replace Basic Logistical Transporter with Advanced Logistical Transporter on the main trunk.

Handle Overflow

Place a Basic Bin at the end of the line as an overflow target and tag it to accept anything unmatched. If a bin fills, items back up along the transporter line; add a second bin with the same tag or upgrade to an Advanced Bin. Use a Cardboard Box to move filled bins without emptying them first.
