Malfu Combat Data Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Do I need the resource pack to use this data pack?
Yes, the resource pack is required. Without it, the custom animations won't load and weapons will use default Minecraft visuals, breaking the intended combat feel.
Why do my attacks feel different after installing this?
The data pack changes weapon reach, attack speed, and damage timing to match new swing animations. This means you'll need to adjust your spacing and rhythm compared to vanilla or unmodded Better Combat.
Which weapon mods are supported?
Simply Swords, Cataclysm, and Simply More Weapons receive custom stat updates. Other weapon mods will work with Better Combat's defaults unless this pack adds specific support for them.
Can I use this with Better Combat alone, or do I need other mods?
Better Combat is the only required mod. Weapon mod support is optional—the pack works fine with just Better Combat and vanilla weapons.
My animations aren't showing up. What's wrong?
Check that the resource pack is enabled in your resource pack menu and placed in the correct folder. Make sure both the data pack and resource pack versions match and are loaded in the same world.
Do I need to start a new world for this to work?
No, you can add the data pack to an existing world. Just make sure to place both the data pack and resource pack in the correct folders before loading your world.
Why do some weapons feel overpowered or weak compared to others?
The pack rebalances weapons to fit new attack patterns and reach values. Slower weapons typically deal more damage per hit, while faster weapons trade power for speed—this is intentional design.
Can I disable this pack for specific weapons?
You can remove the data pack to revert all changes, but there's no built-in toggle for individual weapons. You'd need to manually edit the pack files to disable specific weapon changes.
Does this affect my FPS or cause lag?
The pack itself is lightweight, but custom animations do require more rendering than vanilla attacks. Performance impact depends on your system—most players see minimal difference.
What happens if I update the mod but not the data pack?
Mismatched versions can cause animations to desync or fail to load. Always update both the data pack and resource pack together to the same version.
