Finding and Exploring Underground Cave Systems

Locating Cave Entrances

Lithoform Mod creates massive underground caverns with open sinkholes that serve as natural entry points. Look for deep drop openings in the landscape—these are often surrounded by exposed stone and appear as dramatic vertical shafts. Sinkholes are most common in certain biome types and tend to cluster in regions with varied terrain.

Preparing for Descent

Bring a water bucket to safely descend into deep shafts and break your fall. Pack torches or lanterns to navigate the darkness—these caverns are vast and easy to get lost in. Bring a pickaxe to harvest resources and create escape routes.

Exploring Special Underground Zones

Once underground, you'll encounter distinct cavern types including geode caverns (crystal formations), sinter caves (mineral deposits), and rime caves (ice-covered passages). Each zone has unique block types and layouts. Mark your path with torches or blocks to find your way back to the surface. The caverns are designed to be navigable but expansive—take time to map out major passages before venturing too far from your entry point.
