Lithoform Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Do I need to start a new world to use Lithoform Mod?
Yes, Lithoform Mod only affects world generation, so you must create a new world to see its terrain features. Applying it to an existing world will only generate the new terrain in chunks you haven't explored yet.
How do the climate zones work?
The mod arranges biomes into five climate bands running from frozen regions at the poles to hot deserts at the equator, so biomes transition naturally without clashing. This means you'll find cold biomes clustered together, warm biomes in their own regions, and temperate zones in between.
Can I use Lithoform with other biome mods?
Lithoform is designed to work alongside Oh The Biomes We've Gone for expanded variety while maintaining its climate zone system. Compatibility with other biome mods depends on how they handle world generation, so test in a new world first.
Why is my world generation slow?
Lithoform uses a memoised density calculation system to keep performance fast, but combining it with many other mods or running on low-end hardware may cause slowdowns. Try reducing render distance or disabling other heavy mods if you experience lag during chunk loading.
Where do I find the big underground caves?
Giant cave systems spawn naturally throughout the underground, often with open sinkholes visible from the surface that drop straight into massive caverns. Look for deep holes in the terrain and descend carefully, as the falls can be fatal.
What are geode caverns and how do I find them?
Geode caverns are special underground zones that generate as part of Lithoform's cave network system. They appear randomly in the deep underground, so explore large cave systems and look for distinctive crystal-filled chambers.
Can I build a base on a mountain without it looking weird?
Yes—Lithoform's realistic mountain terrain is designed for building, and the natural ridges and valleys provide good foundation points. Carve into hillsides or build along plateaus to blend your base into the landscape.
Do I need to install anything on the server for multiplayer?
No, Lithoform uses only vanilla blocks, so players can join servers without installing any client mods beyond Lithoform itself. The mod generates terrain on the server side and clients receive it normally.
What's the difference between Lithoform's caves and vanilla caves?
Lithoform generates massive, interconnected cave systems modeled after real caverns with open sinkholes and special underground zones like geode and sinter caves, rather than the smaller scattered caves in vanilla Minecraft. The caves are larger, more navigable, and feature unique underground landmarks.
How do I navigate between different climate zones?
Climate zones are arranged in wide bands across your world, so travel in one direction (like north or south) to cross from cold to hot regions. Rivers carved by the mod often flow between zones, making them natural pathways for exploration.
