Using LiDAR to Plan Mining Operations
Scout Before Mining
Before committing to a mining run, use the LiDAR scanning to survey the area. The point cloud reveals ore distribution, cave networks, and lava pockets in the surrounding terrain. This lets you plan safe routes and identify resource-rich zones.
Identify Ore Veins
Ore blocks appear as distinct points in the cloud. By examining the point density and patterns, you can spot where ore concentrations exist without breaking blocks. Different ore types may create slightly different visual signatures in the scan.
Avoid Hazards
Lava and water appear in the point cloud as gaps or distinctive patterns. Use this information to avoid dangerous encounters. You can see lava pockets before you dig into them, allowing you to plan around them or prepare appropriate protection.
Map Safe Paths
The shader helps you visualize safe mining corridors. You can see which directions have solid stone versus hollow caves, helping you choose routes that minimize unexpected encounters. This planning reduces wasted time and keeps you safer underground.
