LiDAR S Shaders FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on the LiDAR scanning effect?
Open your shader settings menu (usually Shift+Z or through Video Settings > Shaders) and enable LiDAR S Shaders from your shader pack list. The point cloud effect will activate immediately when you load into a world.
Why can't I see normal textures anymore?
LiDAR S Shaders replaces block textures with a point cloud visualization by design—this is the core feature. If you want to see textures again, switch back to your default shader or disable the shader pack entirely.
Can I use this shader to find diamonds and ores?
LiDAR S Shaders reveals block geometry and cave structures around you, which helps you navigate and plan mining routes, but it doesn't highlight specific ore types—you'll still need to identify them by their point cloud shape or switch shaders to see them clearly.
Does LiDAR work in caves and underground?
Yes, the shader is designed to scan and reveal cave systems and hidden structures by mapping the terrain around your character, making underground exploration much easier to navigate.
How far does the scanning range go?
The shader scans the environment around your character, but the visible range depends on your render distance and shader settings—you can adjust visibility settings in the shader menu to change how far the point cloud extends.
Is this shader laggy or will it hurt my FPS?
LiDAR S Shaders is a visual effect that can impact performance depending on your hardware and render distance; if you experience lag, try lowering your render distance or adjusting the shader's detail settings in the menu.
Can I use LiDAR with other mods?
LiDAR S Shaders is a shader pack and works alongside most mods, but it may conflict with other shader packs or mods that heavily modify rendering—only run one shader pack at a time.
Why do some blocks look weird or invisible?
Transparent or semi-transparent blocks (like glass, water, or leaves) may render differently in point cloud mode; this is normal behavior for the shader and part of how it visualizes geometry.
Can I adjust the color or style of the point cloud?
Yes, open the shader settings menu and look for options to adjust point density, color tone, or scanning intensity—the exact settings available depend on your shader version.
Does LiDAR work in multiplayer servers?
Yes, LiDAR S Shaders is a client-side visual effect, so it works on any server without requiring the server to have the shader installed.
