Finding Hidden Caves with LiDAR Scanning

Activate Scanning Mode

LiDAR S Shaders works by rendering the world as a point cloud around your character. The shader automatically scans your surroundings when active—no special activation needed. Caves appear as dark voids or hollow spaces in the point cloud visualization, making them stand out from solid terrain.

Search Systematically

Move through your world slowly and look for gaps or darker regions in the point cloud. Caves will appear as empty spaces where the scanning reveals no blocks. Pay attention to areas where the point density drops suddenly or where you see hollow pockets forming.

Navigate Underground

Once you spot a cave signature in the scan, move toward it. The point cloud will guide you to the opening. The shader's depth mapping helps you see through terrain to locate cave entrances that might be hidden behind stone or dirt.

Combine with Exploration

Use the scanning effect alongside normal exploration. The visual feedback from LiDAR helps confirm cave locations before you dig, saving time and resources. Look for irregular patterns in the point cloud—natural caves create distinctive hollow shapes that differ from solid blocks.
