Do I get a compass automatically when I die or do I have to craft it?
You receive a death compass automatically in your inventory the moment you respawn—no crafting needed. If you don't want automatic compasses, you can toggle them off with /permremovecompass.
Can I use the compass to find my items if I died in the Nether but I'm in the Overworld?
Yes, the compass works across dimensions and will point toward your death location even if you're in a different realm. The compass tooltip will alert you if your death spot is in another dimension so you know you need to travel there.
What do I do if I have too many death compasses cluttering my inventory?
Use /removecompass to delete all death compasses from your inventory at once, or use /permremovecompass to stop receiving them automatically after you respawn.
How do I find out exactly where I died and how far away it is?
Type /deathinfo to see your exact death coordinates, the dimension you died in, and your current distance from that location.
Does the compass needle actually point to my death location or just show a direction?
The compass needle points directly toward your death location, so you can follow it like a normal compass to navigate back to your items.
If I die multiple times, do I get multiple compasses or does it overwrite the old one?
Each death gives you a new compass, so you can accumulate multiple compasses in your inventory—use /removecompass to clear them out when needed.
Can other players see whose compass it is, or does it show my name on it?
The owner's name is displayed directly on the compass tooltip so you and others can tell whose death location it tracks.
What happens if I die in a dimension that gets deleted or reset?
The compass will still point to the coordinates where you died, but if the dimension no longer exists or has been reset, your items won't be there—the compass only tracks the location, not item recovery.
Can I turn off the automatic compass feature for just myself or does it affect the whole server?
/permremovecompass is a personal toggle, so you can disable automatic compasses for yourself without affecting other players on the server.
If the server admin changes the plugin settings, do I need to restart the server?
No, the admin can use /deathpointcompass reload to apply new configuration settings without restarting the server.
