Make Rivers and Lakes Look More Dynamic
Understand Water Body Differences
Justwaves applies wave effects to all water—oceans, rivers, and lakes—but the visual impact varies. Oceans show the most dramatic waves, while rivers and lakes naturally have subtler motion due to their smaller size.
Increase Wave Settings for Smaller Bodies
Access shader settings and consider raising wave frequency slightly for rivers and lakes. This makes the water feel more alive without looking unrealistic. Avoid extreme wave heights in small bodies of water, as this breaks immersion.
Combine with Shoreline Effects
Enable foam and wet sand effects along riverbanks and lake shores. This creates the impression of water movement and current, making even calm lakes feel more organic and natural.
Test in Different Locations
Visit various river sections and lakes to see how your settings look in different contexts. Fast-flowing rivers may benefit from higher wave intensity, while peaceful lakes look better with gentle, slow waves. Adjust settings until the motion feels appropriate for each water type's character.
