Justwaves Shaders FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on the waves after installing Justwaves?
Waves are enabled by default once the shader is active in your graphics settings. If you don't see wave motion, check that your shader is properly loaded and that you're looking at ocean or river water—waves won't appear on still water blocks like cauldrons or water in small containers.
Can I make the waves bigger or smaller?
Yes, you can adjust wave height and intensity through the shader settings menu. Look for wave amplitude or height sliders in your shader options to customize how pronounced the swells appear.
Why do my waves look choppy or laggy?
High wave intensity combined with other shader effects can impact performance. Try lowering the wave height or intensity setting, or disable shoreline foam effects if you're experiencing stuttering.
Does Justwaves work with other shaders?
No—Justwaves is a standalone shader and cannot be used alongside other shader packs. You'll need to choose between Justwaves or another shader mod.
How do I turn off the foam on beaches?
Open your shader settings and locate the shoreline foam or foam effects option, then disable it. You'll keep the wave motion while removing the animated foam and wet sand effects.
Do waves work in rivers and lakes or just oceans?
Waves appear in oceans, rivers, and lakes—any large body of water will show wave motion and movement. You can adjust how dynamic smaller bodies of water look through the shader settings.
Will Justwaves slow down my game?
Justwaves is designed to be lightweight and runs smoothly on most systems because it only animates water. If you experience lag, lower the wave intensity or disable foam effects to improve performance.
Can I use Justwaves with resource packs?
Yes, Justwaves works with most resource packs since it only affects water animation and doesn't change textures. Your chosen resource pack's water textures will still display with Justwaves' wave effects applied.
Why don't my waves look realistic compared to videos I've seen?
Wave realism depends on your intensity and height settings—check that they're configured to your preference. Also ensure your graphics settings (like render distance and water quality) are set high enough to show the full effect.
Does Justwaves change how water looks in the Nether or End?
Justwaves only affects standard water in the Overworld. Lava and other liquids in any dimension are not animated by this shader.
