Adjust Lighting Intensity for Your Playstyle

Access Shader Settings

Open the shader options menu while in-game by pressing the designated shader settings key (usually accessed through your graphics settings or a dedicated keybind). Look for the Incremental Shaders configuration panel.

Modify Core Lighting Parameters

Locate sliders or toggles for:

  • Global brightness: Increase if caves feel too dark, decrease if daytime feels washed out
  • Shadow softness: Higher values create smoother transitions; lower values give sharper definition
  • Path-traced bounce intensity: Controls how much light reflects between blocks—useful for brightening enclosed spaces naturally

Fine-Tune for Your Environment

Test changes in different conditions: deep caves, surface at noon, and during sunset. Shader effects compound across biomes, so what works in forests may need adjustment in deserts or snowy areas.

Start with small incremental changes rather than extreme values. Many players prefer subtle adjustments that enhance vanilla aesthetics without making the world feel artificial. Save your preferred configuration so it persists across sessions.
