Using the Crusher to Double Your Ore Output

Build the Crusher

The Crusher is a multiblock machine that grinds ores into two crushed outputs, effectively doubling your yield. To build it, gather Steel Ingot, Lead Plate, Aluminium Plate, and Conveyor Belts. Place the Crusher block and build the surrounding frame from Steel Scaffolding and Steel Plate as shown in the Engineer's Manual. Connect power with Copper Wire or Aluminium Wire from a Water Wheel or Windmill.

Feed It Ore

Insert raw ore into the top input. The Crusher outputs Crushed Ore for each input, which you then smelt in a Furnace or Blast Furnace to get two ingots per ore. It also produces Grit as a byproduct — Aluminium Grit and similar — which is used in later recipes.

Power and Automation

A single Water Wheel is enough to run a Crusher slowly. Add more wheels or upgrade to a Windmill for faster throughput. Use Conveyor Belts to feed ore in and Item Routers or Hoppers to pull crushed ore out. If you have an Arc Furnace, feed the crushed ore directly into it for smelting without a separate furnace step. Keep a Coke Oven running nearby so you always have Coal Coke to fuel the Blast Furnace that smelts your crushed output.
