Powering Machines with the Water Wheel

Build the Water Wheel

Craft the Water Wheel from Steel and wood components. Place it in flowing water so the wheel spins. The wheel generates rotational power, which is transferred through the Kinetic Dynamo or directly into machines that accept rotational input. For a steady setup, place the wheel in a river or a channel of flowing water.

Connect to Machines

Rotational power must be converted to electrical energy for most machines. Attach a Kinetic Dynamo to the Water Wheel's axle. The Dynamo outputs energy that you route with Aluminium Wire or Steel Wire to your machines. Connect wires to the Charging Station, Crusher, Arc Furnace, and other powered blocks. Use Breaker Switch to cut power to a line without dismantling wires.

Expanding the Setup

One Water Wheel produces modest power. Chain several wheels onto the same axle line to increase output, or build a larger water channel to spin more wheels. For higher demand, upgrade to windmills or a Biodiesel generator. Store surplus energy in the Accumulator Backpack or a stationary accumulator so machines keep running when the wheel slows. Keep wires short to reduce loss.
