How do I find all the wolf variants?
Each wolf variant spawns in specific biomes: Auburn in windswept hills/forests, Sandy in deserts, Phase in swamps/mangrove swamps, Tawny in sunflower plains, White in old growth birch forests, Slate in dark forests, Wolshroom on mushroom islands, and Classic in cherry groves. Visit each biome type and look for wolves spawning naturally in those locations.
Do I need to tame wolves differently for the new variants?
No, all wolf variants use the standard Minecraft taming mechanic—feed them bones until they have a red collar. The new variants are purely visual and behave identically to regular wolves.
Where can I find the new cat variants?
All 8 new cat variants spawn naturally in villages alongside standard cats. Explore village streets and you'll encounter Turkish Vans, Colorpoints, Chocolate, Spotted, Dark Grey, Silver Tabbies, Sunbleached, and Tortie cats among the buildings.
Can I breed variant wolves and cats together?
Yes, breeding works normally with variant pets—two tamed variant wolves or cats will produce offspring. The offspring will be a random variant, not necessarily matching either parent.
Why are my wolves sinking into powdered snow?
This pack prevents that issue, so if it's happening, verify the resource pack is properly loaded and active in your world settings. Check that no conflicting packs are overriding the wolf behavior.
Do the new variants count toward the advancement requirements?
Yes—The Whole Pack advancement now tracks all 8 new wolf variants, and A Complete Catalog tracks all 8 new cat variants. You'll need to find and interact with each one to complete these updated advancements.
Can I find variant wolves spawning on regular grass blocks?
No, each variant is restricted to its specific biome. Sandy Wolves only spawn on sand in deserts, Phase Wolves only in swamps, and so on—they won't appear in biomes outside their designated areas.
Will this pack work with my other resource packs?
This pack modifies wolf and cat textures, so it may conflict with other packs that change the same mobs. Load this pack higher in your resource pack list if you want its variants to take priority.
How do I display my variant pet collection?
Build a sanctuary using blocks that match each variant's biome theme—sand for Sandy Wolves, dark blocks for Slate Wolves, mushroom blocks for Wolshroom, and village-style buildings for cats. Tame and lead your variants there using leads.
Are there any performance issues with having many variant pets?
This is a resource pack, not a mod, so it adds no performance overhead beyond normal pet rendering. You can have as many variant pets as you would normally have pets without additional lag.
