Using Light Sources Effectively in HorrorCraft's Dark Environment

Understand Light Propagation

HorrorCraft darkens the world significantly, making light sources far more valuable. Torches, lanterns, and other light blocks now create visible pools of safety rather than ambient illumination. Plan your lighting strategically.

Place Torches Frequently

In caves and dark forests, place torches closer together than you normally would. The darkness extends further, so spacing them every 8-10 blocks instead of 12+ helps maintain visibility. This also creates a trail back to safety.

Use Brighter Light Sources

Lanterns and soul lanterns provide stronger light than torches in HorrorCraft's environment. Prioritize these for important areas like bases, mining routes, and gathering spots.

Create Lit Pathways

When exploring, mark your route with torches or lanterns on one side. This prevents disorientation in the oppressive darkness and makes retreat easier if danger appears.

Carry Extra Light

Bring more torches than usual. The increased darkness means you'll place them more often, and running out of light sources in a cave becomes genuinely dangerous under HorrorCraft's atmosphere.

Avoid Relying Solely on Held Torches

While holding a torch helps, environmental lighting is crucial. Combine held light with placed sources for best visibility and immersion.
