Adjusting Brightness and Visibility in Dark Areas

Access Shader Settings

Open the Shader Options menu while in-game by pressing the key bound to shader settings (typically accessed through video settings). Look for HorrorCraft-specific sliders and toggles.

Modify Darkness Levels

Locate brightness or exposure controls. HorrorCraft intentionally darkens caves and nights, but you can reduce this effect if visibility becomes frustrating. Adjust the ambient light slider to increase how much light naturally fills dark spaces without removing the horror atmosphere.

Improve Underground Visibility

If deep caves are too dark to navigate safely, increase the cave brightness multiplier or toggle any "extreme darkness" mode if available. This won't eliminate shadows but will make torches and light sources more effective.

Test Your Changes

Small tweaks often work better than drastic changes—aim for a balance where you still feel tension but can see enough to play comfortably.

Save Your Preferences

Once satisfied, confirm your settings are saved. They'll persist across sessions unless you reset to defaults.
