Fight without fire and shield overlays blocking your view
The problem with default overlays
When you're on fire or holding a shield in vanilla Minecraft, large overlay models cover your screen, making it hard to see enemies and navigate combat. The Helpful Default Pack lowers these overlays significantly, keeping your view clear during fights.
Fighting while on fire
The fire overlay is reduced to a thin border instead of covering most of your screen. You can now see your opponent clearly while burning, making it easier to land hits, drink healing potions, or escape danger. The overlay still indicates you're burning—it just doesn't block your vision.
Using shields effectively
When you raise a shield, the model no longer dominates your screen. You maintain better visibility of incoming attacks and can see around your shield to track enemy movement. This is especially helpful in PvP or when fighting multiple mobs.
Particle cleanup
The pack also removes sweeping edge, hit, and explosion particles that normally clutter combat. Combined with the lowered overlays, you get a much clearer view of the actual fight happening in front of you.
Result
Combat feels faster and more responsive because you're not fighting against your own UI.
