Troubleshoot Uneven Lighting or Shadow Artifacts

Identify the Problem

Uneven lighting often appears as sudden brightness changes between adjacent areas, or shadows that don't align with light sources. Check whether the issue occurs in specific biomes, near particular blocks, or at certain times of day.

Reset to Default Settings

If lighting looks broken, return shader settings to defaults and gradually re-enable customizations one at a time. This isolates which setting causes the problem.

Check Shadow Quality Settings

If shadows appear blocky, pixelated, or misaligned, locate the shadow resolution or quality option. Increasing shadow quality reduces artifacts but uses more resources. Decreasing it may help if your system struggles.

Verify Lighting Compatibility

Some blocks or custom structures may interact unexpectedly with colored lighting. Try removing or replacing problematic blocks to confirm they're the source. Ensure you're using standard Minecraft light sources—modded light blocks may not work as expected with Heliox Shaders' colored lighting system.

Report Persistent Issues

If problems persist after troubleshooting, document the exact conditions (biome, blocks, time of day) and compare with other players' experiences in community forums.
