Navigating Castle Dungeons Safely
Understanding Dungeon Layout
Castle dungeons feature multiple levels connected by staircases, bridges, and vertical shafts. Many contain central lava pillars or streams for atmosphere—these are hazards, not obstacles. Dark circular rooms with central fires often spawn creepers and other mobs. Always scout ahead before committing to narrow passages.
Lighting and Mob Control
Place torches as you descend to prevent mob spawning in cleared areas and mark your path back. Dungeons are dark by design, giving mobs an advantage. Bring adequate lighting materials. Consider clearing rooms systematically rather than rushing through—mobs spawn in unlit spaces, so thorough lighting prevents ambushes.
Vertical Navigation
Tall citadels have multiple floors connected by narrow staircases and towers. Move carefully on bridges and near iron bar windows—fall damage is a real threat. Some towers are designed to be climbed from outside; others require interior navigation. Always check for safe footing before jumping between levels.
