Grim Kingdoms Vanilla Edition Data Pack FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

Do I need to do anything special to start finding structures?
No setup required—structures generate automatically as you explore and create new chunks. Just travel around your world and you'll encounter medieval forts, castles, and citadels naturally blended into the terrain.
Will structures spawn in biomes I've already explored?
Structures only generate in newly created chunks, so you'll need to travel to areas you haven't visited before. If you want structures in explored territory, you can use world border tricks or travel to the Nether and back to force chunk generation.
What mobs should I expect inside the ruins?
You'll encounter vanilla hostile mobs like zombies, skeletons, vindicators, and creepers, plus passive mobs like wolves and rabbits in the castle grounds. Bring armor and weapons appropriate for fighting multiple enemies at once.
Are the structures safe to use as a base?
Yes—the castles and forts are solid structures that blend into terrain, making them excellent bases. Clear out the hostile mobs first, then you can claim rooms, seal entrances, and build on top of the existing stone foundations.
Will this mod work with my biome mod?
It works well with most biome mods including Terralith, Biomes O' Plenty, Nature's Spirit, and Regions Unexplored. Structures generate naturally alongside these mods without conflicts or floating placements.
What kind of loot is in the chests?
Chests contain standard Minecraft loot like weapons, armor, enchanted books, and resources—no custom items since this is the vanilla edition. The loot varies by structure type and difficulty.
Why are some structures floating or partially underground?
This mod is designed to blend structures into terrain, so floating structures shouldn't happen. If you see one, it may be from another mod or a terrain generation conflict—check your mod load order and compatibility.
Can I find structures in specific biomes?
Structures spawn across many biomes including snowy mountains, forests, and plains. Different structure types appear in different biomes, so explore varied terrain to see the full variety.
How do I navigate the dungeons without getting lost?
Mark your path with torches or blocks as you descend, and watch for lava pillars and fire pits that can damage you. Move slowly through dark rooms and use a shield to protect yourself from surprise mobs around corners.
Will this slow down my game?
Since it uses only vanilla blocks and no custom items, performance impact is minimal. If you experience lag, it's likely from the biome mod you're pairing it with, not from Grim Kingdoms itself.
