Use Ray Tracing to Brighten Dark Caves and Underground Areas
Leverage Indirect Light Bouncing
GPT_RT Shaders simulates light bouncing off solid surfaces to naturally illuminate shadowed areas. In caves, place torches or lanterns at cave entrances or strategic points. The shader calculates how light rays bounce off stone, dirt, and other blocks, gradually brightening deeper cave sections without requiring torches everywhere.
Observe Light Propagation
Watch how light spreads through cave networks. Brighter surfaces reflect more light into dark corners, while darker blocks absorb it. Position light sources on lighter-colored blocks like sand or gravel to maximize bounce efficiency. This creates realistic ambient lighting that feels natural compared to uniform brightness.
Combine with Vanilla Lighting
Use the shader's ray tracing alongside standard torches and lanterns. The combination produces soft, layered shadows and warm ambient glow in underground spaces. Experiment with different torch placements to see how the shader interprets light paths—you'll notice caves feel more atmospheric and less artificially lit.
