Optimize Ray Tracing Performance for Smooth Gameplay
Adjust Ray Tracing Quality Settings
GPT_RT Shaders offers configurable ray tracing intensity to balance visual fidelity with frame rate. Access the shader settings through your video options menu and locate the ray tracing quality slider. Lower settings reduce the number of light bounces calculated per frame, improving performance on mid-range hardware. Higher settings enable more complex light paths and realistic indirect lighting but demand more GPU resources.
Reduce Draw Distance and Shadow Resolution
If frame rate drops significantly, lower your render distance—ray tracing calculations scale with visible terrain. Similarly, reduce shadow map resolution in the shader settings; this decreases the precision of soft shadows but frees up processing power. Disable or minimize ambient occlusion if available, as this feature compounds ray tracing overhead.
Monitor GPU Usage
Ray tracing is GPU-intensive. Keep your graphics driver updated and ensure no background applications compete for VRAM. If performance remains poor, consider using a simpler shader or reducing your world's complexity by removing unnecessary decorative blocks in heavily built areas.
