Crafting Blacksmith Gavels and Their Tiers

Gavel Tiers

The mod includes four gavels: Iron Blacksmith Gavel, Golden Blacksmith Gavel, Diamond Blacksmith Gavel, and the base Blacksmith Gavel Head. Each tier is a separate item, so you upgrade by crafting the next gavel rather than modifying the old one. The Blacksmith Gavel Head is the component you combine with the appropriate metal to produce a finished gavel.

Crafting Steps

Start by obtaining a Blacksmith Gavel Head. Combine it with Obsidiansteel Ingot or Deorum Ingot depending on which tier you are targeting. For the Iron Blacksmith Gavel, use iron in the shaped recipe. For Golden Blacksmith Gavel, substitute gold. For Diamond Blacksmith Gavel, substitute diamond. The recipe is shaped, so keep the head in the top-center slot and the metal in the slots below it.

What Gavels Are For

Gavels are the tool you use on Obsidian Skull blocks. Hit an Obsidian Skull with a gavel to progress it toward Cracked Obsidian Skull and then Fragmented Obsidian Skull. Each stage requires additional hits, and higher-tier gavels speed this up. Once you reach Fragmented Obsidian Skull, you have the component needed for later arcane crafting.

Durability and Repair

Gavels take durability damage per hit. Repair them at an anvil with the same metal used to craft them. Keep a spare Blacksmith Gavel Head in your inventory so you can rebuild a broken gavel without returning to base.
