Organize Multiple Networks With Pipe Colors
Why Separate Networks
When your base grows, you may want different pipe systems for different purposes—one for ores, one for crafting materials, one for power. Painting pipes with dye keeps these networks visually distinct and helps you troubleshoot routing issues.
Painting Pipes
Hold a dye in your hand and right-click any pipe to paint it. The pipe changes color but continues to function normally. Painted pipes still connect to unpainted pipes, so you can mix colors as needed.
Best Practices
- Use consistent colors for each subsystem (red for smelting, blue for storage, green for farming)
- Paint pipes before they get crowded to avoid confusion later
- Combine colors with Extractors set to specific routing modes to create organized sorting systems
- Remember that color is visual only—it doesn't affect item flow or priority
