Detect Items and Trigger Redstone With Sensors
Placing a Sensor Attachment
Attach a Sensor to any pipe by right-clicking a pipe face with the attachment. Open the Sensor GUI to specify which items or fluids you want to detect.
Configuration
- Whitelist mode: Sensor outputs redstone when specified items pass through
- Blacklist mode: Sensor outputs redstone when anything *except* specified items passes through
- Fluid detection: Sensors can also detect specific liquids in fluid pipes
Practical Uses
Use sensors to:
- Trigger a hopper or dispenser when certain items arrive
- Activate a redstone lamp when your storage reaches a target item
- Control machines based on what's flowing through your pipes
- Create automated alerts when specific resources are being transported
Sensors output a redstone pulse, so pair them with redstone comparators or repeaters for more complex logic. Multiple sensors on the same pipe can trigger different devices independently.
