Troubleshoot Visual Artifacts at Chunk Borders

Identify Chunk Border Issues

Visual artifacts at the boundary between loaded chunks and distant terrain usually appear as color mismatches, lighting discontinuities, or obvious seams. Fly to your chunk border and observe carefully.

Verify Distant Horizons Configuration

Ensure Distant Horizons is properly installed and enabled in your modpack. Farloom's LOD blending is designed specifically for this mod—without it, transitions may look poor. Check your modpack's configuration files to confirm Distant Horizons settings align with shader expectations.

Adjust Blending and Transition Settings

Return to the shader menu and look for LOD blending, transition smoothness, or fade distance options. Increasing these values can soften harsh borders. Experiment with small changes and observe the chunk boundary from different angles and distances.

Test with Reduced Render Distance

Temporarily lower your Distant Horizons render distance to see if artifacts disappear. If they do, the issue is likely a mismatch between your hardware capability and current settings. Increase distance more gradually next time.
