Epic Fight Mod — Guide

Combat Mechanics

The mod introduces several core attributes and systems that govern every encounter.

Stamina and Posture

  • Stamina: Displayed as a bar in the bottom-right. Stamina is consumed by dodging, sprinting, and using certain skills. If stamina is depleted, the player cannot dodge or perform special moves.
  • Posture (Impact/Stun): Every entity has a hidden posture meter. Taking hits increases stun. When the meter is full, the entity is momentarily incapacitated (stunned). Heavier weapons deal more 'Impact,' making it easier to break an enemy's posture.

Weapon Attributes

Attribute Description
Armor Negation A percentage of the target's armor that is ignored during damage calculation.
Impact Determines how much stun/posture damage is dealt to the target.
Max Hits The maximum number of enemies that can be struck in a single swing.
Weight Affects attack speed and stamina consumption. Heavier gear slows attacks but provides more stun resistance.
Two-Handed Weapons that occupy both hands, preventing the use of shields or off-hand items.

Skills

Skills are learned using Skill Books found in dungeon chests or dropped by mobs. They are categorized into four main types.

Dodge Skills

Used to avoid damage with 'I-frames' (invincibility frames). - Roll: A long-distance dodge that consumes 4 stamina. Provides high invulnerability. - Step: A quick, short-distance dash consuming 3 stamina. Faster than rolling but covers less ground.

Guard Skills

Used to mitigate incoming damage. - Guard: Basic blocking that consumes stamina instead of health. Effectiveness depends on the weapon's block rating. - Parrying: A high-skill move. If timed perfectly against an attack, it negates all damage and deals massive posture damage to the attacker. - Impact Guard: Reduces stamina consumption while guarding and allows blocking of explosions and magic.

Passive Skills

Automatically active once learned and equipped. - Technician: Reduces stamina cost for dodging. - Berserker: Increases damage as the player's health decreases. - Sword Master: Increases attack speed with sword-type weapons. - Stamina Pillager: Grants a small amount of stamina back upon killing an enemy. - Hyper Vitality: Increases natural stamina regeneration speed.

Mobility & Revelation Skills

  • Demolition Leap: A high jump that deals damage upon landing.
  • Phantom Ascent: Allows for a mid-air dash or double-jump-like maneuver.
  • Meteor Slam: A powerful plunging attack from height.

Weapons

Epic Fight adds several new weapon classes, each with unique animations and special attacks. Vanilla weapons (Swords, Axes) are also patched with new movesets.

Weapon Types and Stats

Weapon Type Speed Impact Max Hits Special Attack
Dagger Very Fast Low 2 Eviscerate: A rapid series of stabs.
Spear Medium Medium 4 Heartpiercer: A long-range thrusting lunge.
Greatsword Slow Very High 5 Steel Whirlwind: A massive 360-degree spinning attack.
Katana Fast Medium 3 Fatal Draw: A quick-draw strike that hits all enemies in front.
Longsword Medium High 3 Defensive Stance: A counter-attack move.
Tachi Medium Medium 3 Sweeping Strike: A wide horizontal arc.
Bokken Fast Low 1 Training Strike: Low damage, high stun.

Special Attack Gauge

Dealing damage builds up the Special Attack Gauge. Once full, players can press the 'X' key (default) to unleash the weapon's unique special move.

Mobs and AI Changes

The mod fundamentally changes how hostile mobs behave, giving them their own versions of the Epic Fight combat system.

Enhanced Entities

  • Zombies: Use telegraphed swings and can perform a lunging grab.
  • Skeletons: Will switch to a melee dagger if the player gets too close. Their bow shots are now projectile-based and can be dodged or parried.
  • Creepers: Instead of simply exploding, they may charge at the player before detonating.
  • Endermen: Extremely dangerous. They use teleportation to get behind the player and perform rapid multi-hit combos.
  • Wither Skeletons: Equipped with Greatsword-style AI, using heavy sweeping attacks that can stun the player.
  • Iron Golems: Possess massive Impact; their attacks will break a player's guard almost instantly.

Mob Drops (Skill Books)

Hostile mobs have a chance to drop specific Skill Books upon death: - Husk: Guard, Berserker, Endurance. - Wither Skeleton: Death Harvest, Stamina Pillager. - Skeleton/Stray: Technician, Sword Master, Emergency Escape. - Enderman: Parrying, Forbidden Strength, Phantom Ascent. - Creeper: Impact Guard, Hyper Vitality.

Items and Crafting

Most Epic Fight weapons are crafted using standard vanilla materials (Wood, Stone, Iron, Gold, Diamond, Netherite) in the same patterns as vanilla tools but with slight variations.

Key Items

  • Skill Book: The primary way to learn new moves. Found in loot chests (Dungeons, Strongholds, Bastions) or as rare mob drops.
  • Uchigatana: A high-tier Katana that can be found in specialized loot tables or crafted with a specific recipe involving iron and a soul-like essence.
  • Stray Hat/Robe: Specialized armor sets that provide low weight and high stamina regeneration, ideal for 'dexterity' builds.
