Emotify Plugin FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I open the emoji menu while playing?
Press the keybind you've set for Emotify (check your controls menu to see or rebind it). The menu will appear without stopping your movement, so you can keep playing while you pick a reaction.
Can I use animated GIFs as custom emojis?
Yes, the mod supports animated GIFs along with PNG and JPG files. Just drop them into your custom emoji folder and they'll animate when you use them.
My custom emojis aren't showing up even though I added them to the folder
Try using the `/emotify reload` command to refresh the mod's file list, or restart your game. Make sure your files are under 512 KB and in a supported format (PNG, JPG, or GIF).
How do I add an emoji to my favorites so I can access it faster?
Open the emoji menu and click the star icon on any emoji you want to save. Your favorites will appear in a separate tab at the top of the menu for quick access.
Can I turn off emojis from other players if there are too many?
Yes, open the settings menu (gear icon) and you can mute incoming emojis entirely, hide custom emojis only, or ignore specific players.
Do emojis show up when I'm invisible or in spectator mode?
No, the mod automatically hides your emojis when you drink an invisibility potion, switch to spectator mode, or hide behind blocks so they don't give away your position.
Which animation style should I use if I want something subtle?
Try the Lantern Release animation for a gentle, floating effect, or adjust the motion intensity in your settings. You can also mute the sound if the animations feel too busy.
Do I need special permissions to send emojis on a server?
Your server admin needs to give you the `emotify.use` permission to send emojis and `emotify.receive` to see them from others. Ask your admin if you can't access the feature.
Will emojis follow me if I'm swimming or flying with an elytra?
Yes, emojis stick with your character in all situations—standing, swimming, sleeping, or flying—so they're always visible above your head.
What's the file size limit for custom emoji images?
Keep your custom emoji files under 512 KB to avoid performance issues. Smaller files load faster and work better, especially on servers with many players.
