Choose Between Furnace and Blast Furnace for Raw Ore Blocks

Furnace vs. Blast Furnace Performance

Both standard furnaces and blast furnaces can smelt raw ore blocks directly. The main difference is speed: blast furnaces cook faster than regular furnaces. If you're processing large quantities and time matters, prioritize blast furnaces. For casual smelting, either works equally well.

Fuel Compatibility

Both furnace types consume one piece of coal per raw ore block, so fuel efficiency is identical. Any fuel that normally works in furnaces—coal, charcoal, wood blocks, or other burnable materials—functions the same way in both.

Recipe Availability

Raw copper, iron, and gold blocks all have smelting recipes for both furnace types. Choose based on your setup: if you have a blast furnace infrastructure already built, use it. If you only have regular furnaces, they're perfectly adequate. You can mix and match—some blocks in furnaces, others in blast furnaces—without any penalty or complication.
