Efficient Raw Ore Blocks Smelting Data Pack FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I make raw ore blocks?
Collect 9 raw ore items (raw copper, raw iron, or raw gold) and arrange them in a 3×3 pattern on a crafting table to create one raw ore block. You can then place this block into a furnace or blast furnace to smelt it into a full metal block.
Do I need a blast furnace or can I use a regular furnace?
Both work—the mod adds smelting recipes for standard furnaces and blast furnaces. Blast furnaces cook faster, but regular furnaces work just fine if that's what you have available.
How much fuel does one raw ore block use?
One raw ore block consumes one piece of coal (or equivalent fuel) to smelt completely, regardless of whether you use a furnace or blast furnace.
Do I lose experience when smelting raw ore blocks instead of individual ores?
No—smelting one raw ore block grants the same experience points as smelting 9 individual raw ores, so you never lose EXP.
Can I use other fuel types like wood or lava buckets?
Yes, any fuel that works in a standard furnace or blast furnace will work with raw ore blocks—coal, charcoal, wood, lava buckets, and other fuel sources are all compatible.
What happens if I try to smelt a raw ore block without fuel?
The raw ore block will sit in the furnace without smelting, just like any other item. Add fuel to the bottom slot to start the cooking process.
Does this mod work with other ore types like raw netherite or raw diamonds?
The mod currently adds recipes for raw copper, raw iron, and raw gold blocks only. Other ore types are not supported by this data pack.
How long does it take to smelt one raw ore block?
Each raw ore block cooks in the time it takes to smelt 8 individual raw ores, making it significantly faster than processing them one at a time.
Are there any advancements I can unlock?
Yes, the mod includes 4 custom advancements that grant extra experience rewards when you complete them—check your advancement menu after smelting raw ore blocks.
Does this mod affect performance or cause lag?
As a data pack that only adds recipes, it has minimal performance impact and should not cause lag on standard servers or single-player worlds.
