Troubleshooting Trees That Will Not Grow

Check the Seed and Ground

If a planted seed is not developing, confirm you used the correct item for the species. Oak Acorn, Apple Pip, Birch Catkin, Spruce Cone, Jungle Pod, Acacia Seed, Dark Oak Acorn, Cherry Blossom Pit, Mangrove Propagule, and Pale Oak Acorn all require Overworld soil. Crimson Cap and Warped Cap require Nether ground. Mega Spruce Cone, Mega Jungle Pod, Mega Crimson Cap, and Mega Warped Cap need the same conditions as their base species but far more room.

Clear Space Above and Around

Dynamic Trees grow large. Remove blocks directly above the planted seed and clear a wide radius so the trunk and canopy can expand. A tree blocked by a ceiling or wall will stall. For Mangrove Tree, keep adjacent water and Water Roots undisturbed so the propagule can root properly.

Verify the Tree Block

If a tree appears but produces no wood when broken, target the trunk block rather than leaves or branches. Break the lowest trunk block first; the structure collapses from the base. Replant using a fresh seed item and give it adequate space and correct ground.
