Dynamic Trees: Setting Up Before You Start Chopping

Prepare Your Dirt Bucket First

Before you touch a tree, craft a Dirt Bucket. It uses a crafting_shaped recipe, so arrange the ingredients in the exact pattern shown in the recipe book or crafting grid. The result slot will show the Dirt Bucket once the layout is correct.

Having it ready means you can patch terrain the moment you finish harvesting, instead of leaving holes around tree bases.

Harvesting and Restoring

1. Locate a tree.

2. Break the trunk blocks to collect wood. Dynamic Trees trunks span multiple blocks, so keep breaking until the wood is gone.

3. Switch to the Dirt Bucket and place dirt into any gaps or holes left by the fallen tree.

4. Move to the next tree and repeat.

Why This Order Matters

If you harvest first and craft later, you will be carrying loose dirt or leaving damaged ground behind. Crafting the Dirt Bucket up front keeps the whole loop — chop, collect, restore — in one trip.

Quick Reference

  • Dirt Bucket: crafted via crafting_shaped.
  • Wood: obtained by breaking tree trunk blocks.
  • Terrain repair: place dirt from the Dirt Bucket after felling.

Keep the Dirt Bucket in your hotbar whenever you go wood gathering so you can repair the ground immediately.
